Hello, my name is Janin Abegail Barruga, and I am thrilled to be returning for my second year of teaching as 3rd grade Teacher at Zackar Levi Elementary School in Kalskag Village. It has been a joy to be part of this school community, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue supporting our students’ learning and growth. I am looking forward to another meaningful year of working together with families and colleagues to help every child succeed and feel proud of their accomplishments I earned my Bachelor of Elementary Education in the Philippines and pursued further academic enrichment by earning units in Master of Arts in General Science Education. Over the past 8 years, I have gained valuable teaching experience—2 years in a private school and 6 years in public schools. These experiences have given me the opportunity to work with diverse learners, adapt my teaching strategies, and discover how to best encourage each child’s growth. I believe that education is most powerful when it empowers students to think critically, be creative, and believe in themselves. Beyond the classroom, I enjoy staying active through diving and hiking, as well as expressing myself through singing. I also love watching documentary films and exploring technology, which often give me fresh ideas to bring into the classroom. In addition, I have a strong passion for campus journalism, which has fueled my love for writing and storytelling—skills that I enjoy sharing with my students to help build their confidence in communication. I also find fulfillment in serving through volunteerism with different non-government organizations that support people and children, as it allows me to give back and make a positive impact in the community.
