Earlier today, the Aniak Schools were evacuated due to an active an active fire alarm, sprinkler system leak, and an unidentified smell in the building. Students and staff followed emergency protocols, successfully evacuating the building.
With the utmost concern for life and safety, the decision was made to dismiss students for the day. We understand that some families and community members did not receive advance notice, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

✅ Update on the situation:
• There was no evidence of any fire in the Schools.
• The sprinkler system is repaired, and the Schools are being cleaned up from the water.
• The smell was determined to be from stale water within the fire suppression system and does not pose a safety risk.
• The Aniak Schools are expected to resume regular operations tomorrow, February 5, 2025.
To improve communication, the Kuspuk School District has implemented a districtwide text messaging, email, and call-out system. Parents and guardians MUST opt-in to receive these important messages. Opt-in forms were distributed in the fall semester, and the school is working to update contact information.
